Author of this paragraph: anonymous

It all started when I was 6 1/2 years old. I remember it all so clearly. My oldest sister, Molly, held my hand tight as we walked around the circus grounds for the first time gaping at all we saw. It was so exciting, the clowns and tricks, the hot-dog and popcorn stands, the circus music, and OH so many people! We had only 3 tickets as our allowance wasn't the greatest back then. As we came around the corner of the game stands I stopped dead in my tracks...there they were, we had found them. Everything else around me became blurred and faint once my eyes were set on what I was seeing. Five little ponies, the perfect size for me, all walking in circles with children on their backs. Molly looked down at me and said "Go Ahead...". In my eagerness, I had almost forgotten to take the tickets as Molly yelled after me "Wait! You need a ticket!", raising her hand to wave the tickets she was holding in the air. I stopped and looked back only to see a strange man running off with his freshly stolen tickets. I dropped to my knees and began to cry, "I wanted to ride the ponies, I wanted to!"....

Author of this paragraph: Friesian_Freak

....but all was not lost, the ticket seller seeing what had happened decided to give me a ride for free. she told me I could have any pony in the ring. I scanned the ponies for he one I thought was perfect, and there he was a prettyu little petite palomino, he was just georgous. As I climbed up on to the sturdy pony i looked around, no one else had a pony as nice as mine....

Author of this paragraph: horse lover

the owner of the pony helped me get on and the ponies began walking. Instantly, I was in love. I stroked the palomino's soft mane and pet his neck. He nickered softly back to me. Each time I stroked his neck, he nickered so softly only the two of us could hear it. I felt like I was living in a dream! What seemed like a only a brief minute later, I snapped out of my dream world to find that the ponies were stopping and the owner was helping everyone dismount. As I got off and started to walk away with tears beginning to swell up in my eyes, the sweet palomino turned to me and began nickering louder than before...over and over...with an intense, panicking look in his eye, as a foal would look being separated from its mother...

Author of this paragraph: Sarah

I started to panic. How could I leave this sweet golden pony? As I started to turn around to go back, a little girl about 4 years old was being helped onto the little palomino. The pony started nickering to the little red haired girl as he had to me. I smiled, realizing the pretty palomino pony had a heart as big as he was. This pony had a love for children, and they learned to love him in the few moments that they got to spend with him. Another pony was a pretty dapple grey, very petite with a tiny soft lump on her nose. The attendant called her June. Lots of children were lined up to ride June. Another pony was a paint with glass eyes (blue) named Sugar. Another was an appaloosa by the name of Chief with a pretty blanket on his rump. I heard the attendant call the palomino Sunset, which I thought was a really nice name. Too soon it was time to go, and the little girl had finished her ride with Sunset. A father was putting a toddler on his back as I walked on with Molly to see the rest of the sights. As we were walking along, an elephant came bursting down the midway straight at us.....

Author of this paragraph: Horse lover

Tara!!! Get out of the way! Molly screamed. But fortunately the elephant stopped and gazed into my eyes, it was love at first sight! I noticed that the elephant was still a baby almost adult. I decided to ride it so I got on to his back...

Author of this paragraph: Susan

just as I go on the palomino started to Winnie and cry out. It almost sounded jealous. So I got down and walked over to it. Sunset settled down. And the owner said he must be in love. He said it the pony was about 14 and it was time to retire. He said for $25 I could have him. I was so excited I started to jump up and down. My sister came over and said that it costs to much to keep the pony. I remembered the Paterson's about 2 miles down the road had horses and I was friends with them. They were looking to buy another pony to keep the pony they had already had company. And I could keep Sunset there. My sister said we should go home and talk to mom, dad and the Paterson's about it first. I could not wait. We went home. we talked about it for about an hour and my parents had made up there minds, the answer was NO. I was so upset I cried all night. Finally I fell asleep. I had a dream about me and my pony loaping through a field of tall yellow flowers. When I woke up I was so happy but then remembered that I could not have the pony. I walked into the kitchen and mom said that Joanna Paterson asked if I could come over and play. So I had my breakfast and got dressed. I was soon walking down the duty road kicking up gravel every couple of steps. I finally got to the Paterson's house and there in the pasture was... (feb 24, 2000)

could it be was i really awake or was i dreaming because what i saw was a littel palomino poney and as i got closer i heard it i heard the littel nikering sound that i had heard just the day befor at the carnival.I started to walk faster my heart whas doing flips in my chest and my legs were going faster and faster until i found my self in the pasture with my armes around this littel poney. it was it really whas. There whas sunset in the paterson's pasture with my armes around him holding tight so as not to let go for fear that it would be a dream and i would wake up in my bed with no pony.

Author of this paragraph: Chiara

I heard Joanna call my name. Befor realising what I had done, I had let go of the beautiful palomino pony. I turned back around to see Sunset cantering around in big circles. It wasn't a dream, Sunset was actualy there! I ran over to Joanna and gave her the bigest hug I could. Just then I saw my family drive up in our expensive red cadalack. SUPRISE they all yelled, for that day was actualy my 7th Birthday! is he "mine" I yelled back?

Author of this paragraph: Michele

"Yes, he is your, all yours. The Patersons said that you could use some of their pony tack until we get our own." Tara's mom came up to her and gave her a hug. Tara hugged her back and felt like crying with joy. After hugging her parents she walked back up to the beauiful palomino pony that was actually hers and stroked Sunset's silvery white mane then she threw her arms around her neck and held tightly. The next afternoon Tara walked over to the Patersons farm to go on her first ride with Sunset. Joanna was going to ride her pony Candy with Tara and Sunset. Tara led Sunset to the barn and bagan brushing her coat. She finished brushing and put on some of the Paterson's pony tack. The two girls led their ponies to the beginning of the trail that led all around their property. Tara pulled on her helmet and mounted onto Sunset's back. Tara had taken a few lessons and pony rides, but enough to give her the idea of what she was doing. Once she was on she kicked her feet in the stirrups and gathered her reins.

Author of this paragraph: horse_crazy14@hotmail.com

As she was trotting around, her mind wandered to the shows they would enter, the ribbons they would win... "Tara!" called Mrs.Paterson. "pay attention, your pony could be really great if you keep working with him." Tara nodded, but all too soon it was time for the ride to end. She was shocked to see the sky was almost the color of her pony, the sun was setting. Happily she led Sunset to the barn and untacked the tired palimino. "This is amazing, Sunset! just like a dream come true."

Author of this paragraph: Michele

Finally they entered in their first show. Tara nerviously brushed Sunset at the side of the Paterson's two horse trailer. Tara put some finishing touches on Sunset's hooves and braided mane and tail and went to get dressed. Her Joanna said that she would put Sunsets brand new tack on so that Tara wouldn't get her new show clothes dirty. When Tara came out of the dressing room in her freshly washed clothes and polished boots and her helmet on her head. Joanna smiled and said, "You look great! You guys will win for sure." Joanna turned stroked Sunset's silky neck. "She looks just as great." Tara walked over to her beloved pony and wanted to give her a hug, but couldn't because of her clothes. Instead she through over her reins and mounted up. After she had her feet in the sturrips and had taken hold of the reins she turned Sunset around and they walked to the ring with Joanna right by their side. "Wow, you look fabulous!" Her mom said walking up to them. "Are you nerviouse?" "Sort of." Tara looked down at her pony's braids and smiled. "But I am ready to go in there and win." She said looking back up at her mom. "That's good." Her mom gave Sunset a little pat and began to lead them a little closer to the ring. Finally the anouncer called their class and they entered the ring. "Walk, please walk your horses." The anouncer called out over the loud speaker. Tara went through her check list and made sure she was doing all the right stuff. "Heels down, back straight, head up..." Tara thought through the list of things while Sunset slowly walked around the big ring. "Trot, please trot your horses." The anouncer said. Tara gave Sunset a little nudge with her heels and they began to trot down the straight side of the ring. All of the sudden a cat ran under the fence with a dog right behind it. Sunset reared with suprise throughing Tara into the air. She hit the ground with a great thud hitting her head harshly on the ground. Sunset took off around the ring dodging jumps and galloping hastaricly like she was going to die. People and their horses in the ring huried to get out of the frantic ponies way. Tara's parents and sister jumped the railing of the ring and huried to her side.

Author of this paragraph: Kristin

(Back to Tara's point of view) I felt dizzy, and the last thing I remembered was seeing my familiy's faces staring down at me.... When I woke up I found myself in a hospital bed. Then it all came back. The compitition, the dog and cat, Sunset... I looked to see my mom sitting near the side of my bed looking dazed and tired. "Oh I'm so glad you're awake!" She wrapped her arms around me. "How are you feeling? You had a concusion you know." "Tired, and my head really hurts," I replied. "Is Sunset ok?" Mom's eyes softened. "He'll be ok, but when he jumped one of the fences trying to get away, he scraped his leg pretty badly." "Oh no!" I gasped. My mom then told me that the vet had been there a couple of hours ago, and wrapped the wound up nicely, but it still didn't sooth me completely. I wanted to go to him, but was confined to this stupid bed. "When can I leave?" I asked her. "The doctor will be in soon. He's going to check you over and make sure nothing else is wrong." I sighed and layed back down. When I arrived back home(with pain medications and all that junk), the first thing I did was run to the neighbors stable to see Sunset.

Author of this paragraph: Jessica

As I approached the stable,I began frantically searching for my pony Sunset. If it wasn't for that cat and dog we would have done just fine. Joannas father , Rick told me how to take care of my pony. "As soon as your well you may take care of him. But for now Joanna and I will make sure hes allright." Oh boy how hard it has been for the past 6 monthes. Finally the time has arrived, I'm taking care of Sunset and our next show is in 2 weeks." Joanna, I'm so nervous. What if something goes wrong? My best friend, Danielle, is signed up with her pony,Champ!!!

..... I awakened to the phone ringing insistantly. I rolled over and looked at my bedside clock. Who would be ringing at this time of morning I thought to myself when I saw it was only 4am. Tara honey, will you come here please. I hurridly hoped out of bed and raced into my parents room. "Mum, whats wrong??" One look at her face and I knew something had happened to my beloved pony. "Please sit down sweetie." A feeling of dread swept over me as I sat down. "Who was on the phone mum???? what did they want, is Sunset ok??" Silently I prayed to myself. "That was Mrs Paterson," My mum replied. "They heard a rumpus out in the paddock, they hurried out to see what was wrong. Oh honey i'm so sorry, Sunset has dissappeared".......

Author of this paragraph: Hannah

Instantly, Tara felt a pain hit in her heart. This was the pony she had loved and cared for, and he had just left. The next morning before her parents got up, Tara dressed an went outside. She walked to the neighbor's house and looked for Sunset all over the yard. When she couldn't find him there, Tara went off farther down the road calling out "Sunset", "sunset"! When she still couldn't find him, she walked even furthe and further. Until she was clear across town. Nonetheless, she couldn't find her little lost pony. So, she lay down under a tree and fell asleep. When she awoke.............

She huged her pony and then whith out saddle or bridle she rode him back to the farm when she arived she found a group consisting of her anxious parints, frends and the cops. The next week when she had her show.......

Author of this paragraph: Melissa

....I ran excitedly to Sunsets stable. It was the day of the show. I had spent hours the day before, washing and grooming Sunset until she shone. I knew today was the day that we would do well, I didn't know how I knew I just knew. Sunset, sweety how are you i spoke to her as I opened her stall door, I heard a shallow groan in answer. I stared in disbelief at Sunset. He was on the floor in a sweat groaning in pain, his eyes rooling wildly. Oh no, My poor Sunset, I cried and i rushed to his head sitting next to him. The Pattersons arrived and saw immediately that Sunset was sick and phoned for the vet. I stayed at Sunsets side for what seemed like hours, but was only a matter of minutes until the vet arrived. Upon examination, the vet replied that Sunset had a bad case of colic, and he had twisted his bowel. The vet told me I had 2 choices, either pit Sunset out of his misery now, or he could have an operation, and there may be a chance of his survival, but the odds were stacked against Sunset. I had to make the decision quick, as time was against Sunset either way.........

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

What else could I do. I cold not put sunset down so we decided to go ahad with the risky surgary, I was very scard as we loded sunset for the hours jurny to the vetanry hospital. When we got there he was emediatly rushed in for surgary

"Is he ok?" "Well, it's going to be a slow recovery, and I don't know about shows, but with a lot of love & care he could enjoy a few more years with you. Sound ok to you?" "Oh yes, Doc, he'll be the best-loved pony ever!" Laughing with tears in his eyes he said, "I believe he already is!" My heart was happy as I walked Sunset home. The air crisp and cool. Fall was here; God turning leaves into colors. The sun flowed across, but I couldn't find one color as beautiful as MY Sunset! The End.

"SUNSET!!! Come backkkkkkkk" i called frantically to my ponies backside as he boted along the road leaving me behind. A silly little mutt had run out barking at Sunset as I walked him home, cxausing Sunset to panic. I raced after my pony panting loudly hoping he would stop soon.

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

It was about 5 or 5 hours later i found poor Sunset. Flat out on the ground gasping for every breathe. "Oh ny poor poor Sunset" I cried sobbing as i dropped to my knees by his head.       It was then I heard out of no where some one calling my name "I'm over here I screamed happily, I need a vet please hurry". My parents appeared around the corner of a bush, my mum ran to me and hugged me, while the vet who had joined the search party checked Sunset. "He needs to get to the vet hospital soon or he will die, the vet rang his off sider who arrived 10 minutes later with a float. Sunset was pulled into the float and hurried to the hospital.........

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

5 days later.......... Sunset was no better he was in a deep coma with all likely hood of not ever waking up. I spent every spare minute by his side. Sunsets lungs had collapsed on him and while his lunges were slowly recovering, he wasnt. I knew Sunset if he was ever to survive would be unridable, but i didnt care I only wanted my best pal to live and spend the rest of his life in happyness.......

I couldnt believe my eyes, when I arrived at the surgery to see Sunset looking over his stable door, when he saw me he nickered wildly to me. The vet arrived as i raced to Sunsets side. The vet told me the amazing story. "We were so amazed to see him up, we arrived to his stable and there he was with a little foal beside him, the little rascal has been lonely and somehow got into Sunsets stall,And more amazing was the fact that The little foal has given Sunset the will to live."

Author of this paragraph: Mel

"Now Tara this little filly foal, she has no mother, she is an orphan. Her owners want nothing to do with her as there favorite mare died while having her, The little foal and Sunset have taken to each other really well, I was wondering If u would like the foal, She will grow with u and u will be able to ride her later in life, seems Sunset can never be ridden again, what do u say???"

Author of this paragraph: Mel

A foal of my own I couldnt believe it, i knew it would be hard work, but well worth it in the long run, and this foal had saved my Sunsets life, she had given Sunset the Will to Live, and thats what I would name the foal, Will To Live. I raced to mum, "Mum i need to ask you something?" , "What is it honey"< my mum replied. I took a deep breathe................

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

"Sunset is alive!" I said, "The doctor said that it is a miracle, and it is all because of a foal!!" "I am so glad that Sunset is alive!!! But I am sorry that you wont beable to ride him ever again." "Thatís just it Mom, I wont beable to ride Sunset ever again but I can ride Will To Live." "who?!"

"the foal that saved Sunset, The vet said she was an orphan and she went in to Sunsets stall and there getting along and we can take her home." Just then my dad came in, my mom told my dad the whole story and they left the room to talk about it.

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

they walked back in the room with a sad looking face. 'oh-no' I thought "we talked about it and there was one problem..." "what" I asked uneasily "We think you will be to happy," it was then that I realized they were teasing me. They gave me a big hug "of corse you can have the foal but we donít know if we are doing this for Sunset, the foal, or for you!!.

Author of this paragraph: horse

(in sunsets point of view) 'I think,' he thought 'you are doing it for all three of us'

Author of this paragraph: chloe

I thanked my parents so much and told them i will take care of them both.mom told me to not give so much attention to the foal because they didn't want sunset to get jelous. I listened to every word they saidlike about feeding, loving care each one needs and I new I could do it!!!

Author of this paragraph: chloe

I was so happy that day that I decided to walk my new foal Will(short for will to live) around the farm.

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

Did I say walk????, more like a tug of war, I didn't want to forse Will, and she didnt want to leave Sunsets side. "Please Will, just a short walk, look Sunset will watch us he will think you are clever". NO!!! Wills body language replied. Sunset then took it on himself to help me out......

Author of this paragraph: Kimmie

and walked right over to that foal and bit her right on the rump. Well that got her started, she bloted forward draging me a good 5 ft. Then she stopped and I ran right into her. Then she bolted again. After about a half hour of this, Sunset decided he wants to help again. So promptly walks over and procedes to bit her again. Well, I have had enough of this by now, so when I get the foal settled down, I tie Sunset up so he can't cause anymore trouble. I turn around to look at that foal...

Author of this paragraph: Horse Gal!

Will looks at me as if to say "Come on, hurry up!" I walk over and give him a pat."Okey, let's go!(Some minutes later) As we approched Sunset something caught my eye. A gardener snake went right past Will. And as most foals would Will went crazy! he jerked the lead rope so hard I couldn't feel it. Then he gave the lead rope another sharp jerk and it slipped out of my hand. Then something kick me in the shin. I fell down and the last thing I saw was Will running away, far, far away...

Author of this paragraph: Mel

I quicky jumped to my feet and watched frozen in fear as Will raced towards the fence. She prepared herself to jump and flew through the air, My heart stopped as Will midair realised she wouldnt make it. Will's hind legs got tangled in the fence pulling her to the ground amongst the barbed wire. She struggled wildely causing the barbs to dig deeper and deeper. Oh no I thought as I rushed over to her...

Author of this paragraph: Aimee

"Somebody help!!!" I screamed, all the while trying to untangle the foal. Then, a miracle happened. Sunset made her way out of her stall, and after chasing the gardener snake away, Whinnied as loud as a horse can. Will must have got the point, because he stopped struggling and listened to Sunset. Soon, my parents came running up to help. 'Now it will all be okay' I thought...

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

'Wow, Sunset actually saved Will's life. That was so daring!'

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

"Mom, Dad, it's okay. Sunset's fine. Did you see that? Sunset actually saved Will's life.I thought he was a goner! But then, Sunset chased the snake away! That was great. Can you believe it?" said Tara.

Author of this paragraph: anonymous

"We'll see how Will's doing. We will probably have to call the vet down here to see if Will will have to get stitches," said Mom.

Author of this paragraph: Snicko

Now Molly was starting to get a bit disgruntled with this horse owning caper as it didn't matter what she did, her horse Sunset or Will was always getting into trouble and costing her family lots of money in vet bills. Molly decided to sell up and with tears in her eyes (she should be used to this by now) she watched Sunset and Will being transported to a new home.

Author of this paragraph: Snicko

Sunset and Will were relieved to be going to a new home because their new owners really knew how to look after horses not like that silly Molly kid. It was decided that Sunset would be retired and Will would be left to mature.

Author of this paragraph: Snicko

Finally the day had arrived,Will's ridden education could begin.

Author of this paragraph: Christina

Like when most foals are being trained, Will fought the saddle, the bridle, everything. Nothing went right, Will's new owner went very fast and very rough when he handled Will. He tightened the girth as tight as is would go, used his crop way to much, and so on.

Author of this paragraph: Christina

Will became scared of people and one day she escaped. She went to Molly's house even though she had never been there before. Molly was playing with her sister and she almost didn't reconize Will. She was much bigger and very scared of people.

Author of this paragraph: Christina

Molly showed Will to her parents and they all went out to see how sunshine was. To their surprise, sunshine was being ridden even though they had specificly told him not to ride him because he was too old and too sick.

Author of this paragraph: Christina

They snuck in that night and took sunshine back to their neighbor's barn and they...

Author of this paragraph: Mel

The new owners of will and Sunset rocked up with a flaot demanding there horses back. Tara told them she didnt have the horses, when at that moment Will saw the new owners and went wild in the paddock. "You dont have them, then what do i see, im calling the cops on you and your family, this is theft". With that the cops were called in and arrived immediately. They had no choice but to take Taras parents into custody and the horses were taken back to there new owners place....

Author of this paragraph: Sox

"This is the worst!" I cried. "First we have to give Sunset and Will away, but then mom and dad have to go to jail because will and sunset returned here because they were treated poorly!" "Wait" Molly entered the room. "If we can prove that the horses were poorly treated, then we can have them back and mom and dad will be free of charge." So later that night be came up with a plan to help mom, dad, and sunset and will....

Author of this paragraph: AJ

We eventually got back Will and Sunset after Molly told the judge about what the people had done to the horses and the reason they were in the stalls at the patersons stable. Will has gotten to be a very lovley mare and she is starting to get used to me ridding her....

Author of this paragraph: Limbo

And thats how everything ended. THE END
